USA Gravel Bike Championship coinsides with Applefest in Minneasota

As gravel road biking gains momentum around the country, the USA Cycling Gravel National Championships will be coming to La Crescent, MN., on September 20, 2025. Presented by Vittoria Tires, riders will navigate a course through stunning SE Minnesota bluff country. Where challenging climbs push their limits and technical descents test their skills. When the race is done, the celebration begins because it’s La Crescent Applefest weekend. Cheer on or register for a race unlike any other and join the fun on September 20th!

The Diftless Area Course

Just across the Mississippi River from La Crosse, WI. The routes around southeastern Minnesota, originating from La Crescent to Houston, offer a great opportunity for challenging yet navigable courses suitable for all abilities in gravel racing. Courses have been designed to maximize great gravel integration with minimal mixed paved road segments along bluff tops and through the coulees, rewarding riders with wide-open views of stunning vistas and river valleys, some say rivaling views found in southern Europe. Complimented by apple orchards and agriculture of all sorts, riders will bask in abundant views and numerous photo opportunities.

Who is Eligible To Ride

All National Championship Participants must be U.S. citizens and hold either a USA Cycling International License, a foreign International License, or a USA Cycling Domestic Annual License.

Or, must be a Permanent Resident (verified) and have a current:
USA Cycling International License or a USA Cycling Domestic Annual License.

If you do not have a current and valid USA Cycling annual license, the easiest way to obtain one is via the USA Cycling website at www.usacycling.org.

Enjoy Applefest after the Races

What better time to visit La Crescent than the weekend of Applefest, celebrating its apple industry and community?

After enjoying the Gravel National Championships, take in the Apple Festival. In its 77th year, the festival features a variety of events, including a 5K run, coronation, kiddie parade, and the King Apple Parade. There’s also a flea market, car show, and other activities for all ages. For more details, click on Applefest.
