What’s the latest on the MN Electric-Assisted Bicycle Rebate?

With a few changes from the 2024 program, the Electric-Assisted Bicycle Rebate (e-Bike Rebate) is back this year. The updated rebate will continue to help Minnesota residents with lower incomes or disabilities with the cost of purchasing a new e-bike at eligible retailers. 

e-Bike (bicycle) Rebate Application Opens July 30
The online rebate application will be open from July 30 at 11 a.m. to August 7th. Individuals can apply at any time during this period. We will post a link on this page when the application is open. 

The application period closes August 7th at 2 p.m. Central Time.

What’s new for the 2025 Rebate

For 2025, the eligibility requirements and maximum rebate have changed and a lottery system will be used to award rebates if the number of applications exceeds the available funding. New requirements include:

Individuals must now be under a certain income level to qualify:. $78,000 for married filing jointly $62,000 for head of household $41,000 for all other individuals.

To qualify as an individual with a disability, you must meet at least one of the following:

  • Receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits
  • Receive Medical Assistance for Employed Persons with Disabilities (MA-EPD)
  • Be under the age of 65 and receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
  • Receive home and community-based disability waiver services

All applicants must :

  • Be under the income limit or be an individual with a disability
  • Be at least 15 years old when you apply
  • Be a full-year Minnesota resident for 2025 and the previous two years (2023 and 2024)
  • Have filed Minnesota individual income tax returns in 2023 and 2024
  • Not have been claimed as a dependent in 2024

And now:

  • The rebate is worth 75% of eligible expenses, up to $750 off the cost of a new e-bike
  • Rebates will be allocated using a random lottery
