Bike Pic – October 1, Mountain Bike Festival Fun

Dad I am ready, I have checked out the course for the Wild Ride Mountain Bike Festival, with Strider Bikes for Kids at Lebanon Hills Regional Park, in Eagan, MN

Dakota County Park’s is hosting this annual mountain bike event, here at Lebanon Park. Both beginner and experienced mountain bikers that come out to this event will find some of the best trails in Minnesota.  This 3rd annual event will be held Saturday, Oct. 3 from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. at the West Trailhead in Lebanon Hills Regional Park. For the kids, the Strider Bike Adventure Zone will have free bikes to demo on kid-friendly obstacles. [see Video]

Bike Pic – Sept. 30, Open Streets Minneapolis

This participant above, like many others at Open Streets Minneapolis, on East Lake St., Aug. 2nd, found the event fun to bike, as many enjoyed the walk.

With eight locations to participate in this year, from June 7th, through September 26th, Open Streets Minneapolis was a huge success showcasing the communities of the city and their bike/walk programs. Along with miles of places to walk, Minneapolis offers bicyclist more than 118 miles of on-street bikeways and 92 miles of off-street bikeways.  This multi-street event also demonstrates the many opportunities residents and visitors alike have for commuting options and fun places to go on a family bike ride.

Bike Pic – Sept. 28, Apple Blossom Byway Fun

Riding down the Apple Blossom Scenic Byway, this cyclist  was all smiles as she cruised  into La Crescent. in SE Minnesota. This bike friendly roadway is also a part of the Mississippi River Trail that stretches from the rivers headwaters, at Itasca State Park near Bemidji, to the Gulf of Mexico, below New Orleans, in Louisiana.

Wild Ride Mountain Bike Fest Adds Strider for Kids

Dakota County Park’s hosting the 3rd annual mountain bike event, at Lebanon, the first Saturday in October. Experienced and beginning mountain bikers can ride some of the best trails in the state at the third annual Wild Ride Mountain Bike Festival held Saturday, Oct. 3 from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. at the West Trailhead in Lebanon Hills Regional Park, Eagan.

Along with all the great trails for riding, equipment and food vendors will be available to support all the fun.

Multiple bike demo trailers and local bike shops will be on hand for bike tune-ups, clinics, group rides led by local coaches for all skill levels, and a lot more. Plus, you can test your mountain biking know-how on the skills course and ride the best mountain bike trails in the metro — all for free.

Riders can bring their own bikes to ride by themselves or with a group. Free bike check-out from local bike shops will be available (bring your own helmet and driver’s license). Mountain and road bikes to demo include models from Specialized, Giant, KHS and Felt.

For the kids, coming from Rapid City, S.D. is the Strider Bike Adventure Zone with free bikes to demo on kid-friendly obstacles.  [see Video]

The festival is presented by Dakota County Parks and Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists along with Penn Cycle & Fitness, Valley Bike and Ski, Erik’s Bike Shop, Active Sports Inc. and the City of Rapid City, S.D.
