Pre-registration is required and space is very limited for the fourth annual Train & Trail Tour, on Saturday, June 20th Again this year the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota (BikeMN) and Metro Transit will host this popular bike and rail event between Minneapolis and Big Lake, along the Mississippi River Trail State Bikeway.
The Mississippi River Trail, designated as Minnesota’s first state bikeway, provides opportunities tailored for bicyclists of all types and ages to follow America’s great river. When traveling the Mississippi River at the pace and intimacy of a bicycle, you’ll see what many tourists never will. You will be immersed in the river’s way of life and experience a route filled with history, enchantment, and remarkable adventure!
Pre-registered participants will meet at the Minneapolis Parks & Recreation Headquarters parking lot (2117 West River Road, Minneapolis, 55411) at 10:30 a.m. Cars may be left there for the entire day.
The ride begins with a short pedal to the Target Field Station, there riders will hop on the Northstar Commuter Rail Line with their bikes. On the return trip, event participants will pedal approximately 40 miles along the Mississippi River on lightly travelled and slightly hilly roads. This is a go-at-your-own-pace ride, not a race.
Pre-registration is required and space is limited to 140 riders. The cost is $30 per person or $25 for members of the Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota – “Join today!” The registration fee includes your train ticket, a catered picnic lunch in Elk River, maps and route assistance and a treat at the end of the ride. This event will take place rain or shine. Refunds will not be available.
