SUMMARY:Touring Ride in Rural Indiana May Training Camp
DESCRIPTION:May Training Camp will offer a series of century rides from a s
ingle state park. Stay at Spring Mill Inn or tent camp in the primitive ca
mping loop\, with access to a comfort station. All included meals (breakfa
sts &amp\; dinners) will be served in the Spring Mill Inn dining room.\n\n
May Training Camp offers the opportunity to accumulate significant mileage
in hilly terrain relatively early in the cycling season. We have schedule
d this event adjacent to the Horsey Hundred invitational ride May 26-27 in
Georgetown\, Kentucky\, so that riders can complete both events. (Note: P
articipation in the Horsey Hundred is optional\; registration is on your o
wn\, and not included in May Training Camp.)\n\nMay Training Camp particip
ants will arrive at Spring Mill State Park on Monday\, May 21 in the late
afternoon or evening\, in time for packet pick-up\, dinner and an evening
speaker. On Tuesday\, Wednesday &amp\; Thursday\, they will ride century l
oops (one shorter option per day will be available.) On Friday\, a shorter
ride will be on the schedule\, allowing time for travel to the Horsey Hun
dred (about two hours and fifteen minutes southeast of Spring Mill State P
ark).\n\nThe terrain around Spring Mill State Park ranges from rolling to
hilly with some challenging hills. The routes and destinations will be dif
ferent than those on RAINSTORM\, with very little route overlap between th
e two events. Maps &amp\; cue sheets\, as well as GPS downloads\, will be
provided. Routes will not be painted with route markings. All participants
must be comfortable navigating with a map and cue sheet and/or GPS.\n\nFo
ur breakfasts and four dinners are included\; the first meal provided at c
amp is dinner Monday evening. The final meal is breakfast on Friday mornin
 g. Menus are carefully planned for nutrition and variety\, and include opt
ions for vegetarian and diabetic participants. (Contact us before register
ing if you have food allergies or other needs.)
