From Prevention Minnesota News
Go.Crow.Wing is a new online county webpage loaded with information and opportunities for county residents and visitors to learn of the many active living opportunities available in Crow Wing County. The Go.Crow.Wing webpage highlights links to healthy activity and healthy living resources. Featured healthy activity resources include information on city, county and town parks and trails, campsites, skating rinks, skateboard parks and a directory of area lakes and public accesses. The healthy living resources include links for physical activity, fitness and disease prevention. “Medical research has shown that healthy activity such as walking, biking and other fitness activities have shown to reduce the risk of many diseases,” stated Gwen Anderson, County Public Health Nurse Manager. “The goal of Go.Crow.Wing is to increase awareness of public parks and recreational facilities, promote access and make it convenient for people of all ages to find places to be physically active. The site will serve as a healthy living resource for Crow Wing County residents and visitors.” Additional features on the Go.Crow.Wing site include the North Central Minnesota Parks and Trails online mapping tool that identifies county wide parks, trails and other recreation facilities, and a Community Activity Calendar, where community groups can submit a site related event for posting on the calendar. The Go.Crow.Wing project is a cooperative project of the staff from Community Services, Information Systems and Land Services all contributing to the research and development of the site. Go.Crow.Wing can be found on the county website at http://www.co.crow-wing.mn.us. Article Published: 06-17-2012 |
