Rick Anderson has spent the mild winter fixing up more donated bikes than ever and it’s time to get them out of the garage and into use again. Dozens of refurbished bikes will be offered at affordable prices with all the proceeds going to Kids ‘n Kinship, a mentoring program in Dakota County. Rick has already donated more than $14,000 dollars through his previous three sales and is hoping for another great turnout this year. Rick’s passion for biking, mentoring kids and finding great deals gave him the idea to locate cheap or donated bikes, fix them up, and sell them with all the proceeds going to Kids’ n Kinship. Everybody wins, garages are cleared of old bikes, a great local organization receives a generous donation, and riders can pick up a well tuned bike for a fraction of what it would cost new. This year the public bike sale is scheduled for Saturday, May, 26th, at Rick’s Apple Valley home. 12738 Ethelton Way, in Apple Valley. Bike sale hours are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Bikes start at just $20 bucks! There are models available for all ages and skill levels, including a few top end models. Cash donations are also accepted on site. At the sale, anyone who purchases a bike can register for a $50 gift certificate from the Famous Dave's BBQ restaurant in Apple Valley. (Two certificates will be given away). Rick’s previous sales have been featured on the WCCO evening news, Star Tribune, and Thisweek. Please feel free to Contact Rick with any additional questions. The bikes go fast so get there early! Rick Anderson, 952-322-4729, ricka@pcgagencies.com Kids 'n Kinship is a private non-profit organization that matches children who have a need for an additional supportive relationship with carefully screened adult volunteers. Once a match has been made, volunteers spend 1-4 hours per week with the child. Typical activities might include picnicking, attending sporting events, sharing interests or going to the movies. Volunteers make a one-year commitment to the program. These relationships often grow into life-long friendships. We serve children in the communities of Apple Valley, Burnsville, Eagan, Farmington, Lakeville and Rosemount. See more at: www.kidsnkinship.org/ Article Published: 05-14-2012 |
